Swervedriver - I Wasn't Born To Lose You FLAC album

Taken from forthcoming album I Wasn't Born To Lose You to be released March 3rd 2015.

Album · 2015 · 10 Songs. More By Swervedriver. Swervedriver were somewhat overlooked compared to their contemporaries like My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, and Ride, but that oversight may now be corrected with their first album in 17 years. Here, songform takes precedence over pure sound. Welcome back! I Wasn't Born to Lose You Swervedriver.

In light of the many circumstantial events seemingly conspiring against Swervedriver - and this is even without getting into the old story about their drummer leaving to get a sandwich and never coming back - they never released a bad album. That’s something to be proud of; hell, not even My Bloody Valentine can make that boast.

Consequence of Sound. Oxford shoegaze legends Swervedriver return with their first proper full length in 17 years, a feat nearly impossible to pull off successfully. I would even argue that this is the best place for someone new to Swervedriver to start. This album is sure to end up at the top of many listener's "best of" lists.

In other words, I Wasn’t Born To Lose You represents a musical catch-22 of sorts. And to complicate matters further, Franklin sings in almost complete disregard of his band’s reunion, as if they still resided in the dustbin of history. More importantly, his griping occurs within an album that’s more than worthy of the Swervedriver pedigree, regardless of whatever the foregoing remarks on potency, variety, reunions, and ungratefulness have to say about it. One listen to centerpiece Everso is enough to sway even the most hardened of skeptics towards this stance, what with its effortlessly absorbing lullaby, the heat-haze buzz of its guitars, and Franklin’s inimitable voice, which still to this day sounds mundane and extra-mundane at the same time, a perfect fit for the caught-between, floating existence that he and his.

I Wasn't Born To Lose You' will come out on March 2. Swervedriver have announced plans to release their first new album since 1998’s ’99th Dream’. The shoegaze band, who reformed in 2007 after an eight-year hiatus to play a run of US and UK shows as well 2009’s ATP: Nightmare Before Christmas, will put out their fifth album ‘I Wasn’t Born To Lose You’ on March 2 – the album’s artwork is pictured above. It will feature the single ‘Setting Sun’, which you can hear below. The album was recorded at both Birdland in Melbourne, Australia and Konk studios in London.

As Swervedriver wrapped up a series of dates devoted to performing their classic albums Raise and Mezcal Head at the tail-end of 2017, one thing became clear to the band's vocalist and chief songwriter Adam Franklin: the time to record another album was nigh. That tour finished in LA, so it seemed like the perfect time to record," Franklin tells Louder over the telephone from his Oxford home. It's a song I've had knocking around for quite a long time, going back before I Wasn't Born To Lose You, but for some reason I wasn't really sure about where it was going and never really brought it up. We were just playing songs in the studio and someone else – probably TJ the engineer – said 'Well, this one's pretty good'.
