Sarah McLachlan - Shine On FLAC album

Shine On Album Sampler. The Official Sarah McLachlan.

Shine On (Sarah McLachlan album). Shine On is the eighth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan, released on 6 May 2014 by Verve Records. It was recorded in Vancouver and produced by longtime collaborator Pierre Marchand. According to McLachlan, the album was inspired by her father's passing and her own appreciation of life.

Touch is the debut album by Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan, released in 1988 and then re-released in 1989. The album was originally released in 1988 by Nettwerk. McLachlan later signed to Arista Records internationally (although remaining on Nettwerk in Canada), and a revamped version of Touch, with several remixed songs and a new track, was released in 1989 on both labels. The original 1988 release was discontinued by Nettwerk, and is now considered a collector's item.

Shine On captures Sarah McLachlan at a period of transition, switching labels (she's signed with Verve after decades at Arista) and experiencing the death of her father and divorce from her husband. Some of this turbulence can be heard underneath the surface of Shine On - explicitly so on "Song for My Father" and "Broken Heart," whose titles give their game away - but the defining characteristic of this seventh McLachlan studio album is not despair but rather hope.

Shine is an antonym for dullness, so perhaps, on some level, there is a hint of tongue-in-cheek humor in the title of this album. Most likely not. Singer Sarah McLachlan isn’t one for jokes. Her music, it seems, even the happy love songs, are meant to be taken dead-seriously. That was okay on Surfacing when most of the songs were good, but she’s slipped off that surface and fell hard since then.

It forms a harsh juxtaposition with her last release which was fantastic. If you are a HUGE fan of hers then this album is a no brainer; however, if you wanted to get some really strong music from her I would start with something else. Surfacing or Laws of Illusion (more pop happy than her other material).
