Depeche Mode - Interview FLAC album

Depeche Mode is releasing their 14th studio album, "Spirit". Jonathan Clarke takes it back with Dave, from the formation of Depeche Mode to David Bowie's influences.

With all Depeche Mode have accomplished, it's still safe to say they've never done anything quite like new album 'Spirit' before. The band's 14th album, due out this Friday (Mar. 17th) on Columbia Records, sees them bracing the current political landscape in an unprecedentedly direct manner. Lead single "Where's the Revolution?" calls out the government's reliance on fear for public suppression ("They manipulate and threaten/ With terror as a weapon") while sarcastically posing the chorus question, "Where's the revolution?/

We’re really kind of upset about what’s going on in the world, says Dave Gahan at the start of our interview. Depeche Mode introduced itself to the world in 1981 with the catchy synth-pop of ‘Speak & Spell. Martin Gore’s writing well matched Gahan’s sensual vocals, and beloved records such as ‘Construction Time Again’ and ‘Violator, made them one the era’s biggest acts. Spirit’ is Depeche Mode’s 14th album, and their video for Where’s the Revolution was directed by their longtime collaborator, Anton Corbijn. Interviewer Joseph Patel asks the singer about his relationship with the famed photographer, who Gahan deems a fifth member of the band.

Regarding the title, Gahan says we all have a consciousness, and anytime we want we can stop and choose to feel what’s really going on there. We all know when something’s not right. Watch the full Vevo interview, where Gahan touches on growing up in council estates (public housing) east of London, the point in his life when I wasn’t sure if I was going to reach 35, and his ongoing work with Gore and the band.

Andrew Fletcher, the 'third man' in Depeche Mode, talks to Harry Guerin about their new, return-to-form album, 'Sounds of the Universe', and why now is a very good time to be in "the world's biggest cult band". In 30 years there are bad times and good times. We actually really enjoyed the making of 'Sounds of the Universe'. Sometimes through a bad period you can produce great material. This time, I think we managed to enjoy it and produce something that's pretty good. Things came together with this album to give it a better edge.
