The Crickets were an American rock and roll band from Lubbock, Texas, formed by singer-songwriter Buddy Holly in the 1950s. Their first hit record, "That'll Be the Day", released in 1957, peaked at number three on the Billboard Top 100 chart on September 16. The sleeve of their first album, The "Chirping" Crickets, shows the band lineup at the time: Holly on lead vocals and lead guitar, Niki Sullivan on rhythm guitar, Jerry Allison on drums, and Joe B. Mauldin on bass

The second EP culled from The Crickets' debut LP, The "Chirping" Crickets, this 45 . seven-inch disc does not contain as strong a selection as the earlier EP named after the album, but it does have the classic, "Maybe Baby. Additional tracks are "Rock Me My Baby," "Send Me Some Lovin'," and "Tell Me Ho. (This EP differs from the identically titled EP released by Coral Records in the UK in September 1958 as Coral 2003.

Many believe that The Crickets chose their name while listening to a playback of "I'm Gonna Love You To. This is not true; the name was chosen while going through an encyclopedia of names.
