Pony played on all three sessions recorded for the album, that includes the tracks the Adderley Brothers played on. Listen to "Music In The Air": Cannonball plays the opening theme, then Jon Hendricks sings it, after that Pony plays the alto sax solo. Listen and you will hear the differencebetween Pony's and Adderley's solo style. I have no idea why Pony was omitted in the personnel credits to this session. You can hear a horn section with cornet and two alo saxes, use your ears. I just finished compiling a Poindexter discography for web publication. Send me a pm with your e-mail and Ican send you the file. The information in the Lord disco, on jazzdisco.org, and on the CD reissue credits are all incorrect. It's easy to distinguish Cannonball and Pony. Just as hard as it is to imagine Cannonballnot soloing - but he was under contract. His brother didn't even take one solo. Have you listened closely? What are the credits on theoriginal World Pacific LP?

Sorry, but you are wrong in two respects: 1. Adderley was under contract with Riverside by 1959; 2. Pony Poindexter was a real person, and a great saxophonist in his own right, and a major participant in this album. He plays all (!) alto sax solos except for the theme statement at the beginning of "Music In The Air". And he sings and scats on several tracks. Listen closely, and you will distinguish their styles. Why Poindexter was omitted in the credits for the session with the Adderley Brothers in the CD reissue is a mystery to me.

No, Norwood "Pony" Poindexter was a real person who did indeed play on this album, albeit not on the same tracks as Cannonball. For some reason, both Adderleys (Nat and Cannonball) are not listed on this page, but played on tracks A2, A5, A6, B2 and B3 (source: https://www.jazzdisco.org/cannonball-adderley/catalog/#world-pacific-wp-1283)
