The Greatest Hits is a greatest hits compilation released by Australian rock band INXS in 1994. The compilation was a chart success in Australia, peaking at number 2 and in the UK, where it reached number 3. It only managed to reach number 112 on the US Billboard 200; however, it was eventually certified platinum. The album included two new songs: "The Strangest Party (These Are the Times)", and "Deliver Me".
While INXS made a few consistent albums, singles are the best format for the group's stylish dance-rock.
This Aussie band of MTV darlings broke through in the . In the wake of Michael Hutchence's tragic death, INXS's Greatest Hits seems sadly ironic in that it is, in part, a fitting eulogy and biography.

The remaining members of INXS this week released a new 16-track digital-only best-of called Platinum: Greatest Hits that will appeal to diehard fans mostly for the ample bonus that comes with: Seriously Live, a 26-song double live album featuring remastered performances spanning the band’s 30-year career.
Greatest hits album from the stadium-packing group from down-under, led by the charismatic Michael Hutchence, who died at the end of 1997. This one reached N. in the UK chart, it has a couple less tracks than the 2002 version, but they were previously unreleased, so you wont miss them. INXS had many hit albums but only had one top ten single (Need You Tonight), which is odd really, considering how popular they were and are, even ten years after Michael Hutchence died in such "Strange" circumstances. I am a great fan of the group and feel that this compilation is worth listening to again and again This is one of the best CDs I have bought and would recommend it to anyone. by millyad77719 Oct, 2011.

A greatest hits album, sometimes called a "best of" album or a catalog album, is a compilation of songs by a particular artist or band. Most often the track list contains previously released recordings with a high degree of notability. However, to increase the appeal, especially to people who already own the original release, it is common to include remixes or alternate takes of popular songs; sometimes even new material (previously unreleased) will function as bonus tracks.
