Texas Flood is the first studio album by the American blues rock band Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, released on June 13, 1983 by Epic Records. The album was named after a cover featured on the album "Texas Flood", recorded by blues singer Larry Davis in 1958. Produced by the band and recording engineer Richard Mullen, it was recorded in only three days at Jackson Browne's personal recording studio in Los Angeles. Vaughan wrote six of the ten tracks on Texas Flood.

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble's 1985 album Soul to Soul and the supporting tour consisted of controversial performances, particularly in Europe. The Texas cat with the hat and the Strat who hot-wired the 80s blues revival and launched a new generation of players. The last studio album Stevie Ray Vaughan completed and released during his lifetime was, in many ways, his best. Liberated from the constraints of the Double Trouble/Fab Thunderbirds formats, they trade off both guitar and vocal lines, and fool around with soul, funk (check out Baboom/Mama Said), country and western swing (on the splendidly titled Hillbillies From Outer Space) before playing a manic Albert King-style duet on the same guitar.
The Fabulous Thunderbirds is a blues rock band that got started in 1974, the group being best known for the massive 1986 hit "Tuff Enuff". The band's original line-up included guitarist Jimmie Vaughan, the older brother of the influential blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan, and got popular in Texas' underground rock scene. After performing for several years in the Austin, Texas area, the guys earned a recording contract with Chrysalis Records and later signed to Arista.
Texas guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan seemed to come out of nowhere in the early '80s with a guitar style that was half Albert King and half Jimi Hendrix, and his then-refreshing approach to the blues and blues-rock has made him perhaps the most influential hard rock guitarist of the past two decades. This set collects several of the key tracks in Vaughan's too-short career, including classics Texas Flood, Pride and Joy, and Crossfire, making it a nice, concise introduction to his impressive catalog.
