Piano Concerto No. 3 in C major, Op. 26, is a piano concerto by Sergei Prokofiev. It was completed in 1921 using sketches first started in 1913. Prokofiev began his work on the concerto as early as 1913 when he wrote a theme with variations which he then set aside. Although he revisited the sketches in 1916–17, he did not fully devote himself to the project until 1921 when he was spending the summer in Brittany.
Prokofiev: Piano Concerto N. in G Major, O. 5 - 2. Moderato ben accentuato by Vladimir Ashkenazy & London Symphony Orchestra & André Previn. Claudio Abado passed away recently. Abados' Prokofiev concertos were much more interesting than Previn's. Moreover Kissin and Argarich (both piano artists) are far better than the piano's in the album.
Album: Prokofiev, Piano Concertos 2 & 3 – Kissin/Ashkenazy/ Philharmonia, (EMI). Sunday 7 June 2009 00:00. Is a former concert pianist the best conductor for a piano concerto? Apparently not. From ex-pianist (Vladimir Ashkenazy) and pianist (Evgeny Kissin) alike, this is an uncomfortable performance of two famously booby-trapped works. In the G minor Concerto, Ashkenazy's cluttered "Allegretto" blows the glacial poise of Kissin's opening "Andantino", and the grotesquerie of the "Intermezzo" is chaotic.
