Hidle Brown "H. Barnum (born July 15, 1936) is an American pianist, arranger, record producer, songwriter, and former child actor. After winning a nationwide talent contest at the age of four and starring in the motion picture Valley of the Sun Marches On, Barnum continued his acting career on TV in the Amos 'n Andy Shows, the Jack Benny Show, and others, making his first solo recording as Pee Wee Barnum in 1950.

Barnum is an American musical with a book by Mark Bramble, lyrics by Michael Stewart, and music by Cy Coleman. It is based on the life of showman P. T. Barnum, covering the period from 1835 through 1880 in America and major cities of the world where Barnum took his performing companies. The production combines elements of traditional musical theater with the spectacle of the circus

T. Barnum's career of showmanship and charlatanry was marked by a surprising undercurrent of honesty and forthrightness. His exuberant autobiography forms a happy combination of all those traits, revealing the whole story of his world-famous hoaxes and publicity stunts. Here is a pageant of nineteenth-century America's gullibility and thirst for marvels, as told by the master of revels himself. A born storyteller, Barnum recalls his association with Tom Thumb, his audience with Queen Victoria, and his trouble keeping Jenny Lind's angelic image intact during a trying tour. The true-life tale of a man of boundless imagination and indomitable energy, Barnum's autobiography embodies the spirit of America's most exciting boom years. ww. overpublications.

America the Beautiful" is an American patriotic song. The lyrics were written by Katharine Lee Bates, and the music was composed by church organist and choirmaster Samuel A. Ward at Grace Episcopal Church in Newark, New Jersey. At that time, the poem was titled "America" for publication.

Phineas Taylor Barnum (5 July 1810 – 7 April 1891) was an American showman who is best remembered for his entertaining hoaxes and for founding the circus that eventually became Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. and all the gilding shall make nothing else of me. As quoted in Philip B. Kunhardt, et alm P. Barnum: America's Greatest Showman (1995), ISBN 0-679-43574-3, p. vi. The Humbugs of the World.

Barnum started promoting the human novelties he called "freaks" in his traveling show in 1835 and he opened his larger freak show at the American Museum in Manhattan in 1841. After a fire in 1868, Barnum founded . Barnum's Grand Traveling Museum, Menagerie, Caravan, and Circus. In 1881, the Circus came under the joint management and ownership of Barnum, James Bailey, and James Hutchinson and in 1887, Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show On Earth was formed

One of the main ways Barnum drew crowds was to exploit abnormalities in human beings. The display became known as his Freak Show, which traveled around the world and inspired many other circuses to follow suit with their own versions. It should be noted that freak is an outdated, and rather offensive term, since these people were simply that: people. Keep in mind that this was during the 1830s, so slavery was still legal in the United States. Barnum took Heth on a tour, starting in New York City and traveling along the East Coast. He would show off her act in hotels, inns, museums, and concert halls. If you’re wondering why people would pay so much just to see an old woman sitting in a chair, Joice did look so old, in fact, that one newspaper actually thought she was a robotic puppet, or automaton.
