Hungarian dance refers to the folk dances practised and performed by the Hungarians, both amongst the populations native to Hungary and its neighbours, and also amongst the Hungarian diaspora. According to György Martin, a prominent folklore expert, Hungarian dances can be divided into two categories. The first refers to dances performed in the middle ages while the second relates to the 18th and 19th century.

Recorded in 1984, Hungarian Folk Music features songs from the ethnically Hungarian region of Transylvania in northern Romania. Song selections highlight examples of toe-tapping dance tunes, wedding songs, and a unique vocal recording sung in both Hungarian and Romanian. The liner notes, written by László Kürti, contain photographs as well as detailed explanations of his trip to Hungary and notes on the selections. 101. Songs of Samu Nagy Miklȯs (medley).

Romanian Folk Dances (Hungarian: Román népi táncok), Sz. 56 (also BB 68) is a suite of six piano pieces written in 1915 by Béla Bartók. He later orchestrated it for small ensemble in 1917 as Sz. 68, (BB 76). The pieces are based on seven Romanian tunes from Transylvania, originally played on fiddle or shepherd's flute. The original name for the piece was titled Romanian Folk Dances from Hungary (Magyarországi román népi táncok) but was later changed by Bartók when Romania annexed Transylvania in 1918-1920.
