Zucchero sings the English lyrics of the song while Pavarotti sings the Italian. The song was released as the first single from Zucchero’s album Miserere which had been named for the song, and became a big hit, reaching in the UK Chart. The single was released with stickers in many regions promoting the fact that the song was co-written by Bono. A second song entitled Miserere (Overture) opens the album. This is a brief instrumental piece of the music that formed the background of the song Miserere. There are no lyrics and as such Bono is not associated with the song.

On Randy Crawford’s album, THROUGH THE EYES OF LOVE, a duet with Zucchero, of the song Diamante was included and Zucchero also appears as songwriter for the piece Like the sun out of nowhere. L’URLO tour began, with Sports Stadiums and clubs as venues all over Europe, the group was: Corrado Rustici (guitar), Polo Jones (bass), Luciano Luisi (keyboards), Mike Shrieve (drums), Eric Daniel and Mike Applebaum (brass section), Eileena Dennis and Mino Vergnaghi (chorus). The home video, MISERERE STORY, arrived on the shelves, a compilation of in-studio scenes
