Procol Harum (/ˈproʊkəl ˈhɑːrəm/) are an English rock band formed in 1967. Their best-known recording is the 1967 hit single "A Whiter Shade of Pale", one of the few singles to have sold over 10 million copies. Although noted for their baroque and classical influence, Procol Harum's music also embraces the blues, R&B, and soul. In 2018, the band was honoured by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when "A Whiter Shade of Pale" was inducted into the brand-new Singles category.
Procol Harum is the debut studio album by English rock band Procol Harum. It was released in September 1967 by record label Deram in the US, following their breakthrough and immensely popular single "A Whiter Shade of Pale". The track doesn't appear on the UK version of the album, but was included on the US issue. The UK version of the album was released in December 1967 by record label Regal Zonophone.
BBC Live in Concert is a music live recording by PROCOL HARUM (Crossover Prog/Progressive Rock) released in 2000 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. This album is a portion (at least, I assume it's only a portion) of a show from right before the release of Exotic Birds, and the setlist reflects this. The four tracks I love so much from that album indeed make it here, and while there's not a ton of departure from the studio versions, there's enough roughness (and hard work from the band to overcome this roughness) in the sound to make them worthy companions.
Gary Brooker (Procol Harum) How my first band got a helping hand from The Rolling Stones. It’s a long time, but Procol is always current (or timeless). See you in the wine bar– mine’s a large one!
Procol Harum’s legendary album Procol’s Ninth was the first album that band ever released that featured cover songs. On The record, the band covered The Beatles Eight Days A Week, and Leiber & Stoller’s I Keep Forgetting. The last two songs on this Procol Harum Songs list are difficult to write about because they are such legendary tracks in the history of classic rock music. So we will just list the dates and the albums. Conquistador, was released on the band’s debut album in 1967. It is the first track to appear on a Procol Harum album. 1 – A Whiter Shade Of Pale. Procol Harum’s signature song A Whiter Shade of Pale, was released as a single before the band’s UK debut album was released. The song was included on the United States version.
