Yes Please! was the last studio album that the British band Happy Mondays recorded before leaving Factory Records. It was released in 1992 and was produced by Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads. The album is most famous for allegedly driving independent label Factory Records to bankruptcy, having cost too much to record.
Yes Please! followed in 1992, produced by Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, recorded at Eddy Grant's studio in Barbados. The album was a commercial failure that bankrupted Factory Records. Happy Mondays performed before another re-formed act, Rage Against the Machine, at the 2007 Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California. They were introduced by Tony Wilson. Bez missed the show because he could not get into the US due to "passport issues". The band then toured throughout the summer of 2007 including a trip to the Numusic Festival in Norway. They played Splendour in the Grass in Australia in July 2009, and the UK V Festival in August 2009.
Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches is the third studio album by English alternative rock band Happy Mondays, released on November 27, 1990 by Factory Records. The band chose British DJ Paul Oakenfold and his frequent collaborator Steve Osbourne to produce the album based on their work on various remixes for the band's previous singles. It was recorded at Eden Studios in London throughout 1989 and early 1990.
Happy Mondays - Yes Please! album cover. Estimated budget: who knows? But IT cost a whole record label. The album that sunk a legendary label, the follow-up to the successful Pills 'N' Thrills And Bellyaches saw Factory boss Tony Wilson send the Salford lads off to Barbados to record with Talking Heads duo Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth. Bad move: recovering heroin addict Shaun Ryder smashed his bottle of methadone before they'd even left the airport and their destination was the world's No 1 centre for crack.
