On the heels of Trio, Emmylou Harris' smash studio collaboration with Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt, comes the compilation Duets, which collects previously released performances recorded in conjunction with Neil Young, Willie Nelson and others. By and large, Harris' finest material is her solo work, although the power of "Love Hurts," recorded. Brand New Dance is an album which Emmylou Harris released on October 16, 1990. Produced by Richard Bennett and Allan Reynolds, the album mixed a rather eclectic collection of covers, including Bruce Springsteen's "Tougher Than the Rest", and Dave Mallett's "Red, Red Rose". Most of the twelve tracks on the album originally appeared as singles or on albums released by her singing partners. Several of the tracks attained positions on the Billboard Hot Country Singles charts: "That Lovin' You Feelin' Again" with Roy Orbison was at in 1980; "If I Needed You" with Don Williams at in 1981; "Wild Montana Skies" with John Denver at in 1983; "Thing About You" with Southern Pacific.

Duets - Barbra Streisand album - was created in 1963. Emmylou Harris sang a duet with Tim Goodman on the song "Thing About You", which is a track off the 1985 debut album from the group Southern Pacific. Coincidentally, the band's 1986 release, Killbilly Hill, included a song titled "A Girl Like Emmylou", but did not include Emmylou Harris on vocals. Also released as a single '45 vinyl.
