Making as good on the label's name as conceivably possible, in 2011, Smalltown Supersound reissued this obscure 2007 album by a duo from Vardø, a tiny fishing village at the northern tip of Norway. Regardless of the cosmic significance - or not - of this seemingly improbable event (it might have something to do with the fact that one of the duo is noted electro/disco producer Rune Lindbaek, who happens to have released a similarly minded album as one-half of Meanderthals, also on Smalltown Supersound), it's certainly a boon for. fans of slow, spacy, ambient synth music (Biosphere,.

Pechenga is the moniker Rune Lindbæk and Cato Farstad took on in the winter of 2007, when they returned to their birthplace of Vardø, Norway to record what would become Helt Borte. Gitaro comes to us as a taste of the purported subzero weather inspired sounds the album holds.

Helt Borte, which in Norwegian could mean either "completely gone" or "hero is gone," was composed at Linbaek's grandmother's house in Vardø over a two-week period, supposedly with heavy snow and the aurora borealis as a backdrop. The album originally came out in 2008 on Pechenga Records, but sold less than 100 copies before being picked up by Smalltown Supersound. Artwork is by the musician and graphic designer Kim Hiorthoy. Tracklist 01. Hamningberg.

Curious, I see that this particular edition of the cd has the opening song, Svarthavet, not listed, on the edition I have. Can anyone confirm if it is an extra song or maybe 2 songs segued into eachother and were renamed as 1 song on my cd?

Revisiting this CD after a few years. Such beauty, reminiscent of Eno at his best.

Vital Beast
An atmospheric jurney with Rune Lindbæk and Cato Farstad. These artists are mostly known for discoinfluenced electronic music, but this time they decided to make an ambient alias together. The outcome is beautiful. They combine their creativity with production abilities from a long carrier. This proves that they can do just about anything in electronic music. This should be played from start to end in order to be carried away with the wonderfull sounds. If i where to highlight some of the tracks it would be "Hamningberg" and "Gitaro", but it feels wrong to take them out of the big picture.
