Where is the substance of the first releases of this Genius ? This mini-album is better than the previous album, reminding me Slompy Jitt EP, but less interesting than Danny's earliest pieces until 2005. Where are the crazy melodies ? This "chicago house" only suits to the clubs, I can't enjoy it at home.

If there was any question that Danny Wolfers enjoys kicking off pseudonyms, let that be put to rest as his umpteenth one begins with Gilga 1, a classic demonstration of all the flair and passion one man can coax from drum machines and synthesisers. All the familiar Legowelt elements are in place, from the haunting warbles on "Deputy's First Hood Patrol" to the nutty strings and samples of "Dimensions Of An Ancient Bird Race", but there's never a sense of repetition between the tracks.

Legowelt revives Gladio alias for new album on . Means To Freedom is out on Ron Morelli's label in May. Thu, 07 Mar 2019. After announcing the last entry in the Gilga series last week, the label is shutting down after a decade.

so... i'm not the only one, i'd have to agree too. newcomers may or may not hear thatbut the last 7-8 years have been a bit... meh. he churns them out faster than a take away now, so howcould they be all quality. there is also a lot of 'digital' post production going on as well, ableton etc andit certainly sounds so.
