Jimmy McGriff - The Dream Team FLAC album

James Harrell McGriff (April 3, 1936 – May 24, 2008) was an American hard bop and soul-jazz organist and organ trio bandleader who developed a distinctive style of playing the Hammond B-3 organ.

The Dream Team (Jimmy McGriff album). The Dream Team is an album by organist Jimmy McGriff recorded in 1996 and released on the Milestone label the following year. This has the ingredients for ranking as an instant classic in this idiom".

This time, with no apologies to the notorious . Simpson legal staff, he calls his quintet "the Dream Team" - and for this kind of music, indeed they are. McGriff strokes his Hammond XB-3 keys and pedals with a relaxed in-the-pocket feeling; with this group, he doesn't have to push, nor should he. David "Fathead" Newman holds down the tenor chair, Red Holloway (replacing the late Rusty Bryant) is on alto and tenor, Mel Brown plays really tasty guitar, and Bernard Purdie powers the drums.

The Main Squeeze is an album by American jazz organist Jimmy McGriff recorded in 1974 and released on the Groove Merchant label. It's a collection of short, sharp and oh-so-sincere funk workouts performed with both style and skill, the album simply plays its cards too close to the vest, controlling the groove but never giving in to it". All compositions by Jimmy McGriff except where noted. The Worm Turns" – 4:21.

This album and Starting Five album. Mel Brown did great work. He is the most underrated guitar player. Both album are his masterpiece from Soul Jazz side. Ofcause all the members are top notch. B-3 master Jimmy McGriff is joined by Red Holloway (former tenor/alto player for Brother Jack McDuff) and David "Fathead" Newman (sax man for Ray Charles), plus funky drummer Bernard Purdie and soul-jazz journeyman Melvin Sparks on guitar. The emphasis is on blues and gospel sounds and feeling over flash.
